E' l'estate più balorda a memoria d'uomo. Dalle mie parti piove quasi ogni giorno e le piante stanno vivendo una stagione decisamente sballata.
Ho deciso di fare qualche piccolo lavoro di aggiustamento, anche perché pare che i prossimi giorni saranno più soleggiati,
Ho dato una potata a gelso e frassino: come sapete avevo deciso di far crescere liberamente queste due piante per far loro ingrossare i rami e per farle riprendere da due rinvasi che avevano comportato un taglio di radici abbastanza drastico.
Dato che qualche settimana fa al bonsai club avevo potato i rami del gelso (che avevano comunque raggiunto un buon diametro) e che coadiuvati da qualche giorno di sole questi avevano prontamente gettato qualche nuovo ramo ho deciso di ripetere l'operazione sia sul gelso che sul frassino.
I rami di quest'ultimo erano lunghissimi e pieni di foglie, li ho accorciati ad una misura che possa essere funzionale a far sviluppare le gemme interne e li ho parzialmente defogliati per dare un input alla pianta.
In questo modo dovrei riuscire a ottenere un secondo gruppo di rametti che aiuterà a dare conicità alla ramificazione primaria.

Where I live is the weirdest summer ever. It rains almost everyday and the plants are living a really confused season. For these reasons and for the fact that (apparently) sun will come in the next days I decided to do some little jobs on the mulberry and on the ash.
As you may know I let those trees free to grow this year, to make the branches go thicker and to let the roots have the possibility to recover after some big cuts.
Some weeks ago according to some hints of the bonsai club I've pruned the mulberry, (the branches were thick enough), and immediatly it sprouted again. I pruned the mulberry again and I did the same also the ash which branches were very long and covered in leaves. Now i cut that back and I removed the leaves. In this way the tree should be forced to sprout again giving me te possibility to have a better shape on the primary branches.

Ieri sera rincasando ho trovato il vaso del mandarino cinese per terra rotto, dev'essere stata una botta o un colpo di vento. Poco male comunque, il vaso era di plastica senza valore e l'ho prontamente sostituito. La pianta ha perso solo un rametto che si è spezzato.
La buona notizia però è arrivata quando ho osservato la caramella della margotta...
Ci sono delle radici! Avevo quasi perso le speranze dato che era passato molto tempo senza segni di un qualche risultato ma ora invece si vedono bene le piccole radichette.
Ora lascerò la caramella attaccata per un paio di mesi e poi trasferirò tutto in un vaso di coltivazione.

Yesterday evening I found the Kumquat pot on the floor broken. It must have been a blown of wind or maybe a hit. Not so bad however, the pot was a cheap plastic one and I've substituted it with a similar one, the plant itself lost only a small broken branch.
Good news comes from the layering.
We have some roots!! I almost lost my hopes, in fact it was a long time that ago that I preapred the layering and nothing was showing.
Now instead there's some results. Now I will leave it there for a couple of months and then I will put it in a cultivation pot.
