Si parte con le potature, ho ripreso alcune delle piante poste in vaso l'anno scorso per farne delle ceppaie.

Dopo l'anno di assestamento ho deciso di dare una bella potata di formazione, sfruttando le gemme basse e qualche rametto per creare il movimento e poter sviluppare una ramificazione secondaria.

La Spirea dovrà subire un piccolo cambio di inclinazione nel prossimo rinvaso.

Mentre spero che la piccolissima Symphorocarpos mi dia delle belle soddisfazioni crescendo molto.

Ho altre due ceppaie che non ho lavorato dato che vorrei aspettare la loro fioritura. Per la Forsythia dovrebbe mancare poco. Sono più indeciso sul Chaenomeles, dato che la pianta avrà bisogno di tagli drastici forse opterò per operare prima della fioritura.

So the pruning season has started, I've exectued two formation cuttings.

Both plant were repotted last year and let free to grow so this time I cut them back as much as possible exploiting the lower buds in order to create movement and a secondary ramification.

Spiraea will need a slight variation on the inclination.

I hope that the Symphorocarpos will grow strong because is really small at the moment.

I have other two stump style to work on. I will certanly wait for the Forsythia to fluorish, I'm not so sure about the Quince since I would like to do an aggressive cutting and maybe the flowering will stole too much energy to the plant.

Altri due rinvasi, poche note.
Il symphoricarpos è al suo primo rinvaso quindi ho ridotto molto il pane radicale. Le radici sembrano ben disposte. Il filo che tiene i due rami è di rame ma l'ho coperto per evitare segni.
Per la Forsythia speravo che le radici fossero più in alto e che avessero una disposizione migliore. La crescita dell'anno scorso è stata forte quindi ho tagliato molto.
Per entrambe ho preparato un substrato misto, come mio solito quest'anno.

Other two repots
Symphoricarpos at its first repot so I reduced the root ball as much as I can. Roots disposition looks fine. Wiring is made in plastic covered copper.
Forsythia has grown huge roots in one year only but the disposition is not good, they start lower than expected.
For both of them I used my classic substrate mix.

Il clima è davvero mite e ho deciso di cominciare un po' di lavori (post a riguardo in arrivo). Avendo però cinque minuti liberi ho dato anche una veloce accorciata a tutti i getti del Symphoricarpos dal quale voglio ottenere una ceppaia.
Il disegno non sembra male e le radici sono ben distribuite. Non credo che la pianta soffrirà molto, il tempo sembra non sembra voler fare brutti scherzi, e cmq nel caso riparerei meglio il vaso.
Vedremo il risultato questa primavera con un bel vaso.

The weather is so fine and the temperatures are so warm that I decided to begin with some works (upcoming post).
During the works I've found 5 minutes to give a quick cut back to the Symphoricarpos that I want to be a stump.
The design seems nice and roots are well placed. We will see how it looks in a nice small pot this spring.
I think that this species can survive with this kind of work, moreover I don't think that the temperature would go dangerously down anytime soon.

Come avevo già fatto l'anno scorso con la Forsythia, anche quest'anno ho trovato in un garden due piante da trasformare in piccole ceppaie.
La prima è una Symphoricarpas, una pianta che non conoscevo che ha la caratteristica di portare delle stupende bacche bianche.
La seconda è una più nota Spirea (spiraea bum anthony waterer). Appena il tempo sarà più caldo procederò con potatura (drastica) e rinvaso.

Just like I did last year with the Forsythia, I bought two plant in a garden center to create two small stump bonsai.
First one is a Symphoricarpas, a plant that I didn't know, it's so nice and it shows beautiful withe soft berries.
Second one is a well known Spirea (spiraea bum anthony waterer). 
When the weather will be better I will prune them and repot.
