Finalmente anche l'acero Montpellier si è risvegliato dal torpore invernale e ha cominciato a gonfiare le gemme.
Ho proceduto a porlo in una ciotola capiente con della pomice e poi l'ho messo a dimora nell'orto.
Il nebari non è perfetto ma potrebbe svilupparsi bene.
Sfortunatamente il mio cellulare ha deciso di spegnersi durante il rinvaso quindi non ho foto delle radici da mostrare.

At last even Montpellier maple woke up from the winter sleep and started to enlarge the buds.
So I put it in a large cultivation pot with pumice and I placed it in the vegetable garden.
Nebari isn't excelent but I think it can improve.
Unluckly my mobile decide to turn off during the repot so I have no pictures of the roots.
Here in its place.

Curiosa sorpresa ieri mattina quando ho trovato il vaso dell'acero di Montpellier in frantumi. 
Evidentemente il gelo deve averlo fatto criccare causando la rottura.
E' la prima volta che mi capita ed è abbastanza curioso in quanto la temperatura non era di molti gradi sotto zero.
Poco male comunque, la pianta andava rinvasata e il vaso era abbastanza comune. Per ora l'ho sistemato con del nastro da imballo. Dovrebbe durare abbastanza per arrivare fino alla primavera.

Unexpected surprise yesterday morning when I found the Montpellier Maple pot borken.
I think that the cold is the cause, strange since the temperature is only a few degrees under zero.
It's the first time that happend to me, not so bad however, the plant have to be repotted in spring and this pot was a cheap one.
For now some tape will fix the problem.

Sono giornate tranquille per i bonsai che stanno crescendo e rinforzandosi, quindi i lavori sono ridotti al minimo. Qualche pinzatura, il controllo delle annaffiature e ovviamente un occhio alle concimazioni.
C'è però l'acer Montpellier che sviluppandosi mostra alcuni interventi da eseguire e così in questi giorni ho avuto qualche lavoretto da fare.
Innanzi tutto ho rimosso la parte apicale, era troppo cilindrica e faceva fatica a germogliare, e poi ho abbassato il ramo inferiore mantenendo solo i rami più bassi. La forma è ancora strana ma forse è migliorata.
Ho colto l'occasione anche per filare i rametti bassi, operazione che ora dovrò tenere sotto controllo per evitare di segnare la giovane corteccia.
Ho rimosso anche il moncone di radice che spuntava in basso e ora si inizia a intravedere una sorta di nebari.
La prima foto è di prima dell'apertura delle foglie ma si riesce a notare la differenza di silhouette che c'è rispetto a prima degli ultimi lavori.

These are quiet days for bonsais, plants are growing freely so there's no many work to do; some pinching, the watering and the manure control.
This montpellier developing has shown some works that has to be done. 
First of all i remove the apex, it was too cylindrical, then i remove one of the lower branch so now the lower shape is better (it has however a strange shape).
I have wired the small lower branches to force them near to the tree. I have to be very careful and control the wire, avoiding signs on the bark.
I remover the aerial root monk and now a nebari is appearing.
The first pic is from a while ago and the plant has no leaves but it's easy to see the difference shape that the tree present now.

Ieri è stata una domenica davvero intensa, con due amici (e un po' di visitatori) abbiamo eseguito qualche rinvaso. Per le mie piante si parla dell'acer montpellier e dell'acero palmatum rosso, poi un glicine di Edoardo  e due olivi e una magnolia per Matteo.
Tutte le piante sono state messe in terra di coltivazione, pomice al 80% più qualche parte di akadama o di kanuma per le piante che la richiedessero.
Per quanto riguarda il palmatum scriverò un post apposito perchè il lavoro eseguito è stato titanico, il montpellier invece ha presentato un problema a livello radicale. Le radici erano molto poche, lunghe e con pochi capillari, la scelta di usare solo akadama grossa che avevo fatto ai tempi si è rivelata errata, quindi anche per lei pomice con un po' di kanuma e un vaso più ampio.

Quite THE sunday yesterday. me and some friends performed some repots. For me the montpellier maple and the palmatum maple, for Edoardo a wistiria and for Matteo two Olive trees and a magnolia.
All the plants were putted in cultivation pot with mostly pumice as soil (we added some akadama and for those who needed some kanuma).
I will wrota a single post for the palmatum because the work we made was huge.
My montpellier showed a problem with the roots, when i repotted this tree a couple of years ago i choose to use large akadama, this provided a creation of a small quantity of very long roots with a small amount of capillaries, now is in a in larger pot with pumice and kanuma soil and it will stay there to regain strenght.

Questo è il mio acer montpellier (fa parte dei monspessolanum). La storia di questa piantina rappresenta il mio processo di comprensione dei bonsai. È stata la prima pianta che ho acquistato. Un aquisto su internet; errore da non ripetere, intendiamoci, la consegna è stata rapida e senza problemi e la pianta era quella che avevo scelto. Però scegliere una pianta senza averla vista dal vivo è molto difficile e non credo che lo rifarò.

Mancano le foto della pianta appena arrivata ma in pratica era un piccolo tronco con dei rami lunghissimi e troppo spessi. Nel corso degli anni ho provato ad avvolgerli, potarli, pinzarli senza mai ottenere un risultato soddisfacente. Il problema più grosso è l'equilibrio tra tronco e chioma, e io ho sempre pensato di risolvere questa cosa nel giro di una stagione o due.

Studiando, leggendo, guardando foto ho capito cosa devo fare. Spostare la pianta in un vaso di coltivazione e lasciarla li per un paio di stagioni, dopodiché valutare la soluzione e il disegno migliore.

Non so ancora come comportarmi sul ramo basso che rischia di diventare troppo grosso e importante, vedremo.

Un altro problema é quello che riguarda le radici hanno obbiettivamente un disegno da migliorare.

Questa primavera quindi lo sposterò in coltivazione e ricomincerò la formazione della pianta.
Ps la pianta durante l'ultima estate ha subito un colpo di secco a causa delle alte temperature, fatto che le ha causato un'estate traumatica

This is my acer montpellier (a monspessolanum), the story of this plant is really connected to my comprehension of the bonsai world. I've purchased this tree on line, that was my first error, i mean, the delivery was really fast, the price correct and the tree was very wealthy, but a bonsai must be watched live, you have to "feel" if its the right plant.

I don't have any photo rapresenting the bonsai when it's arrived but basically it was a small trunk with a huge foliage made by long and thick branches.
During the years i've tried pruning, wiring, cutting back but without obtaining a good result. I was trying to accomplish a very long path in a couple of seasons.
Then, after reading articles, partecipate in forums, watching videos and pictures i understand that the plant need a complete restart.
So this spring i'll put in a cultivation pot where i will leave it for a couple of years, during this period i would take care also of the lowest branch and the air roots.
Ps this bonsai in the last summer has suffered of a dry stroke due to the high temperature, this fact indeed caused a loss of leaves and some problems for the plant
