Oggi ho iniziato a potare le piante del giardino, sono partito dal susino poi toccherà a betulla cigliegio e ai due pini. Potando si notano bene i rami e le loro caratteristiche. Spero quindi di riuscire a trovare dell'ottimo materiale per le margotte. Soprattutto per quanto riguarda susino cigliegio e betulla. Appena sceglierò i rami posterò le foto. 

Today i've started pruning back the plum, next will came the birch, the cherry tree and two pines. I will try to look for some good branches to air layering especially for the deciduos trees. I will post some photos if i will find something right.

Colpo di sfortuna oggi, per caso ho fatto caso a uno dei vasetti dove conservo i semi e ho notato della muffa. probabilmente li ho messi via un po' umidi. Non sapendo bene cosa fare ho deciso di salvare i più sani e interrarli, speriamo bene!

Misfortune for me! Today i notice that one of my seed jar was full of mold. Probably when i put them in they were a little wet. Not knowing what to do i decided to choose the better ones an put them in small pots with soil, i hope they would sprout eve

Ciao, ieri ho realizzato un uncino per districare le radici, è un primo tentativo ma non mi sembra affatto male, è abbastanza grande e sarà sicuramente adatto ai bonsai di grosse dimensioni. Allego una foto

Hi, yesterday i've realized a hook, is usefull to exctricate the roots. It's a first try but it look good, is very large and strong and i think it will be very handy for large plants and for yamadori.

Questo melo (malus) è una delle piante della mia collezione che preferisco, soprattutto durante la fioritura, anche se ad oggi sono molto indeciso su come proseguire il suo sviluppo.
Le prime foto della pianta sono del 2012 anche se la possiedo da qualche annetto in più. E' stato un regalo di un amico anch'egli appassionato di bonsai. Non ricordo se la pianta era ricavata da una margotta o da talea. E' una pianta molto forte ed è cresciuta moltissimo in questi anni, ora è alta circa 40 cm.
Come si vede nelle foto la pianta presenta una magnifica fioritura ma al contempo la struttura della pianta è sproporzionata con rami troppo grossi e dritti. Non so se margottarla per abbassarla e al contempo margottare i rami per ottenere degli altri meli o se semplicemente potarla e ricostruire la struttura... Sono davvero indeciso...
Le ultime foto sono in alta risoluzione e sono dell'estate 2012.

This apple tree (malus) is one of my favourite, especially during the flowering period. It was gave to me by a bonsaist friend several years ago (even though the first photos are from 2012 i own it from 2010 i think), i don't remember if he collected it from an air layering or a cutting.
As the photo shows the plant had a huge develop during this years (now is about 40cm-15in high) and when is covered with flowers is really amazing. The problem is clearly shown in the wintertime silouetthe, the structure is not good with too many thick stright branches. I really don't know what to do now, i have some ideas like an air layering to lower the tree (and other air layering to collect new plants from the higher branches) or a huge cut back to make grow a new brach structure... i just don't know, i'm waiting for THE good idea...

Oggi ho trovato questo terzetto di faggi (fagus crenata), sono prebonsai, nulla di esagerato ma mi hanno fatto venire in mente una buona idea per il bosco che ho in mente... da un boschetto di soli aceri potrebbe trasformarsi in bosco misto. Devo sviluppare bene l'idea ma penso che sia fattibile. Ho un solo problema. Il meteo continua a non aiutarmi e un castagno sta aprendo le gemme!
Vedremo...

This is my last purchase, is a small gruop of three fagus crenata, they are simple but they make me grew an idea for the forest that i want to create. It will be a mixed forest (the original idea was to create an acer forest).
The weather is creating problems, my castanea (which will go into the forest) is already waking up.
Hope the weather will fix.

Il tempo è davvero pessimo, continua a piovere e non fa troppo freddo e le piante... ne risentono.
Questa è la mia zelkova su roccia, le ho praticato una potatura invernale di pulizia (rami piccoli e deboli e le foglie secche) circa un mesetto fa e ora... sta già ributtando le nuove foglioline...
Speriamo che smetta di piovere altrimenti al posto dell'orto quest'anno mi toccherà organizzare una risata.

The weather is bad at least here. Although is not freezing cold is still raining. The plant sense this "high" temperature and they go crazy.
Look at my zelkova, i trimmed it down a little one month ago (i cut small and weak branches and the dry leaves) and now new buds and leaves are growing.
Hope it will stop raining or i will organize a rice field in my garden.

Si lo so, sembra un tronchettino striminzito e senza speranza... però guardando bene si può scorgere un futuro luminoso per questo piccolo acero.
La piantina è un acer pseudoplatanus da seme di tre anni (è la stessa annata degli aceri del post nursery), a differenza delle altre che si sono sviluppate in altezza questa è cresciuta con un bel movimento del tronco, è alta 11 cm e il diametro è di circa 1,5 cm.
La mia idea è quella di sviluppare un bonsai mame mantenendo queste proporzioni. Ho buttato giù un disegno per avere un'idea del risultato che vorrei ottenere, e penso che in 3 o 4 anni si possa ottenere già una buona struttura.
In primavera rinvaserò per verificare lo stato delle radici, metterò la pianta in un vaso più piccolo così da controllarne la crescita e per tentare di limitare la dimensione delle foglie.
Nelle ultime foto si vede il vaso in cui vorrei mettere a dimora il bonsai a tempo debito.

Yes i know... it look like a skimpy piece of trunk, but i can see i bright future in it!
This little plant is an 3 y.o. acer pseudoplatanus from seed (is the same year of the maple in the post nursery). Unlike the others that developed in highness this tree generated a trunk with a good movement, now is 11 cm hig (4 and half inch) and 1,5 cm thick (less than a inch).
My goal is to develop a mame bonsai. I've sketched to have an idea of the final result, i think that within 3 or 4 years i can get a good structure.
This spring i will repot in a smaller pot to prevent the tree to grow large and at the same time in this way the leaves will develop smaller. I will also checkout the health of the roots.
There are move pictures showing the pot that i will probably use.
