C'è fermento al Club do Groane, si stanno infatti portando avanti i preparativi per la mostra che si terrà a Cesano Maderno l'8 e il 9 ottobre.

Quest'anno in mostra tutti i membri porteranno almeno una pianta (e per chi ha questo interesse anche un suiseki) a partire dai neofiti, passando da chi ha qualche anno di esperienza fino a tutor ed istruttori nazionali.

Ci si sta adoperando quindi per rendere le nostre piante il più pronte possibili, quindi si da qualche potata o qualche cimata, si muschiano le piante, si puliscono bene i vasi e si stanno preparando tavolini e piantine di compagnia.

Durante i due giorni si terranno anche dimostrazioni di lavorazione da parte dei tutor.

Saranno presenti insieme a noi anche rappresentanti di club amici. Non ci saranno targhe o trofei in palio e il tutto si terrà in un'atmosfera non competitiva.

Altre sorprese sono pronte ad arrivare, ma non posso raccontare tutto. Dovrete passare a trovarci.

There's a huge activity at the Bonsai Club these days, we're preparing for the exibithion that will took place during the second october weekend.
This year every club fellow will expose a tree (and a suiseki if is a passionate) starting from the newbie till the tutor and masters.
So  we're cutting, pruning, cleaning and musking our plants, we're going to make our pots neat, we're choosing basement, tables and company plants.
During the two days there will be also demonstration and some friends club will bring bonsais to show off, all without a competition.
There will be also some other surprises but I wont tell.
You just have to wait.

Quest'anno mi sono nate 4 piantine di gingko, così dovendole spostare dal contenitore in pura sabbia ho deciso di provare a verificare come si comportano in diversi tipi di substrato.
Tre hanno una dimensione simile e dopo aver accorciato il fittone le ho poste rispettivamente in lapillo, pomice e akadama.
Mentre l'ultima, più piccola e con pochissime radici è stata messa in vaso con un mix dei tre terricci.

Four Gingko seedlings developed this year and since I need to move them from the sand soil I decide to take a "test" with different kind of soil.
Three of them, more or less of the same size where put respectivly in lapilli, pumice and akadama. Obviously I've cut away the large taproot.
The last, a smaller one with a few roots is in a pot wix those soil mixed.

Di ritorno da un weekend in montagna porto con me alcune nuove piante.
Si tratta per la maggior parte di faggi e qualche carpino nero.
Sono riuscito a scovare un faggio di buone dimensioni. la foto non rende giustizia al nebari che ho dovuto interrare molto per garantire un migliore attecchimento e una maggiore stabilità della pianta.
Ho poi preso una serie di piante più piccole, un paio di dimensioni chuhin e altre più piccole. Queste sono destinate a un periodo di libera crescita nel mio orto.
Qualche pianta ha sofferto il viaggio, spero di conservarne una buona parte.

Coming back from a weekend in the mountains with a bunch of new plants.
Most of them are european beeches and some hop hornbeams.
I found a large beech with a nice nebari, I had to plant it very deep in the ground to guarantee stabilty and humidity.
I also bring home a number of smaller plants; two are in a chuhin dimension, the other are smaller and they are set in the garden free to grow.
Some of the little suffered from the journey but I hope to save most of them.

Nel post di oggi presento un gelso e una pyracantha che hanno storie molto simili.
Entrambe le piante infatti sono state margottate due anni fa in modo da ottenere una struttura delle radici migliore.
Purtroppo per nessuna delle due la prima margotta era riuscita a dovere, l'anello non era stato ben definito e ripulito e le radici non avevano avuto modo di svilupparsi.
Quest'anno ho ripreso in mano le due piante (in realtà devo ringraziare Davide per la margotta alla Pyracantha) ed ecco come si presentano ora: con un discreto pane radicale entrambe dovrebbero riuscire a svilupparsi e a sopravvivere.
Il gelso, è in un vaso che avevo preso in occasione di Arco Bonsai.
Per entrambe la legatura al vaso è un po' avventurosa ma d'altro canto quando non si hanno solide radici bisogna pur adattarsi.

Today a mulberry and a pyracantha with similar stories.
Both of them were air layered two years ago to obtain a better root structure,
Both of them suffered because the cutted rings weren't done properly and so the roots did not show up.
So, this year I done again the layering and apparently it work very well. (thanks to Davide for the pyracantha layering since he done it, I was too tired that evening).
I think that both can survive the repot even though the fixation isn't that good due to the lack of strong roots to use.
Mulberry is in a pot that I purchased at Arco Bonsai.

Ho eseguito due veloci rinvasi l'altro giorno.
Il primo più che un rinvaso è stato la posa in sede della piccola margotta di bagolaro che ho eseguito in primavera atta ad aver un migliore sviluppo del nebari.
La pianta è stata legata al vaso in maniera un po' "creativa" ma non volevo rovinare le radici.
Ho anche cambiato vaso, e al contempo ridotto le radici della piccola Zelkova comprata ad Arco in maggio, anche il vaso proviene dallo stesso evento.
In autunno una bella potata la aspetta.

Two quick different repots.
First one in truth is a placing of the celtis air layering of this spring.
It was made to get a better nebari. Roots appears to be fine but I have to do a kind of fixing trying not to ruin them.
I also change the Arco's Zelkova pot, using one that I purchased there in May. I did a good cleaning on the roots.
In fall I will do a nice pruning.

Eccomi tornato al lavoro! 

Sabato mattina con l'aiuto di Davide ci siamo divertiti a raccogliere qualche pianta in natura. Sono piante molto rustiche e benché abbiano subito trattamenti importanti contiamo di riuscire a mantenerle.

Nella prima e nella foto potete vedere quelle che ho deciso di tenere per me, per quanto sono riuscito a capire dovrebbero essere due esemplari di prunus, teoricamente di tipo padus.  Con la nuova, speriamo, crescita dovrei poter valutare al meglio

Mentre la robinia rimarrà a Davide.

Ho messo la robinia in buona parte nella sua vecchia terra mischiata a pomice e akadama dato che era quella con l'apprato radicale meno sviluppato ho preferito mantenere un ambiente simile per la radicazione

Ora saranno libere di crescere anche per un paio di stagione per stabilizzarle.

With my mate Davide we went along looking for yamadory...

Here's what we found: in first and third pics the ones I decided to keep, they should be prunus padus, but only with the new growth i will be sure. In the second pic there's Davide Black Locust. This one had the weakest root apparel so I used the original soil with some pumice and akadama.

Since these are raw trees I think that they can survive and gain energy. For a couple of seasons they will enjoy a free grow.

Ho avuto la possibilità di fare un paio di lavoretti veloci in questi giorni. Una bella defogliata al bagolaro, questa pianta ha cacciato moltissimo e la margotta ha già dato risultati, a fine estate potrò fare un bel rinvaso.
Parlando di margotte, la pyracantha sembra aver reagito molto bene mentre la robinia ha messo una sola radice, e inoltre qualche uccello continua a smuovermi il muschio attorno (che avevo messo dopo aver rimosso l'infruttuoso sacchetto), rendendo più difficile la riuscita della margotta.
Ho defogliato anche la ceppaia di Ilex Serrata e inoltre l'ho posta in piena terra, dove potrò concimarla a dovere e avere quindi la possibilità di forti potature.

I had the opportunity to do a couple of works in these days, I did a pretty good pruning on the celtis, this plant really had a strong growing and even the air layering shows good results. At the end of the summer I will do a fine repot.
Talking about air layering, pyracantha appears to be well developed, otherwise the black locust has shown a lonely root, so I removed the plastic bag and put some new musk over the cutting to try to get some more roots. Annoying thing, there's a bird that appears to like so much this musk and overnite comes to move it.
I pruned the Ilex Serrata stump and put it in the garden where I can feed it more having the possibility to cut more in springtime.
