Bonsai quando posso

Idee, Bonsai e Prebonsai

Fix some things

In the weekend I've executed a couple of works that I have in mind since a few months.
The first was the repotting of a little oak in a better substrate. This tree was given to my by my friend Paolo which collected it with its original soil which was mostly clay.
Due to this watering and draining were difficult so i repotted it in a akadama, pumice and kanuma soil.
Second work was onto the zelkova in the pot with the rock. I always had some issues trying to fix this plant during repottings because the small pot has only one draining hole were I can fix the wires.
So I took out the tree (avoiding to cut the roots because I have already shortened them during this spring repot and I don't want to strees the tree more) and with a drill I created two small holes.
Now the plant is much more stable (I'm still not completly satisfied) and can face a couple of years before the next repot
