Fine works on mulberry

Parto col dire che non sono sicuro che sia il miglior periodo dell'anno per lavorare sulla corteccia di una pianta, ma ieri sera ero annoiato e ho preso in mano il mio gelso e ho iniziato a lavorarlo.

Ho iniziato con una potatura dei rami. Dato che alcuni hanno già una forma con movimenti naturali mentre altri sono dritti e grossi ho dovuto scegliere bene dove e quanto tagliare, in modo che ogni ramo possa sfruttare al meglio lo sviluppo delle gemme. 

Dopodiché mi sono concentrato sulla corteccia e sul legno secco. Ho iniziato pulendo il tronco e rimuovendo i germogli posti in zone non sfruttabili, ho arrotondato i rami con tagli vecchi e ho lavorato il legno secco o marcio all'interno dei buchi del tronco. Inoltri in prossimità di essi ho esposto il legno vivo per favorire lo sviluppo del callo.
Devo dire che sono abbastanza soddisfatto del lavoro eseguito e perciò spero che la pianta risponda bene.
   Dato che la pianta verrà margottata per ottenere un bonsai più basso e proporzionato ho scattato qualche foto per avere delle idee sull'altezza della margotta stessa e sulla possibile inclinazione finale.

Maybe is not the right period of time to work on so much on the bark of trees, but I was bored yesterday so I took my mulberry and started to work on it.

I began cutting the branches, there are some of them which hava already a nice shape and some others that are so long thing and straight. So I have to choose the right point to cut to achieve the development of the most useful buds. 

Then i focus on the bark and the dead wood. I started by cleaning the bark from old and dry buds, I rounded the cornering branches, I carved a little the dead rot wood inside the "holes".

Nearby the cuttings I expose the alive wood to achieve the seaming.

I hope everything works fine for the tree, because I'm pretty satisfied of the job done.

   Since this tree will be layered to obtain a lower bonsai I took some pictures imagining where the layer could be and how the plant will appears with different inclination.
